Mark Buffington
Mark Buffington is the co-founder and CEO of BIP Capital and Managing Partner of BIP Ventures. Since co-founding the firm in 2006, he has led it to its position as one of the most active firms outside of Silicon Valley. Under his leadership, BIP Ventures ranks in the top 25% of VC firms by DPI and TVPI, with more than half of investments achieving a 3x return or better. (1)
Mark has led more than 150 multi-sector, multi-stage investments. Notable investments include Vendormate, Ingenious Med, QA Symphony/Tricentis, PlayOn, Huddle Tickets, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Cypress.io, ConnexPay, REACH Health, Trella Health, Shareholder InSite, and Aspirion Health Resources.
He has guided the development of several of the firm’s most innovative initiatives. These include a private equity Evergreen BDC, a proprietary deep-data AI platform, and a Performance Engineering framework designed to build category-leading companies and drive premium exit outcomes. His work reflects a commitment to disciplined investing, founder partnership, and long-term value creation.
Mark holds an MBA from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business and a B.S. from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was also a varsity letterman in baseball.
He serves on the boards of several companies, including NFHS Network, AchieveIt, Trella Health, PlayOn, UserIQ, and ConnexPay. He is also active on several nonprofit boards, including the Buckhead Coalition and the Georgia Tech College of Computing.
