BIP Capital is Recognized as an Atlanta Business Chronicle Best Place to Work for 2024

Press Release

BIP Capital has been honored as one of Atlanta's Best Places to Work in 2024 (Small Business category) by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The award highlights our commitment to fostering a supportive and dynamic workplace. Other honorees include BIP Ventures portfolio company AchieveIt and our sister firm, BIP Wealth.

The award is a recognition and celebration of exceptional company culture. It reflects feedback from team members across the firm on factors that successfully cultivate a happy workforce, including:

  • Respect
  • Accountability
  • Teamwork
  • Transparency
  • Management and Leadership
  • Career Growth Opportunities
  • Work Fulfillment
  • Belonging
"We're greatly honored by this award because it reflects what's most important to us," said BIP Capital founder and Managing Director Mark Buffington. "We are a meritocratic organization where individuals can come together to do the best work of their lives and fulfill their career desires at the same time. Our team benefits from that balance. Our investors and founders benefit from our motivation to work hard to help them build wealth and category-leading companies."

One BIP

We operate as One BIP across every team and employee, working together to fulfill our purpose of serving high-growth founders and investing partners. As the only private capital investment firm to integrate traditional venture anchor funds (via BIP Ventures), an Evergreen equity BDC, and private credit offerings, our small team works nimbly to balance the needs of the high-growth founders, discerning investors, and exceptional advisors in our ecosystem.

By working as an aligned team of high-performing, service-minded experts, BIP Capital has earned a legacy for our strong culture and partnership. People are the main ingredient of our recipe for success. We recruit High IQ/EQ team members with unique experience investing in and scaling category-leading, high-growth companies. We empower them to succeed with timely information and an environment characterized by collaboration and support.

A Company Culture Guided by Core Values

People are at the heart of our core values. From posters on the walls to the names of our huddle rooms to the specific and intentional way we conduct business, we live our values. And we have operated this way since our founding in 2007.

  • Upholding the Fiduciary Standard: We put the interest of our investing partners ahead of our own, providing each investor with the highest "duty of care" they deserve for entrusting us.
  • Stewardship: We are stewards of the dreams of our founder partners.
  • Merit-Based Evaluation: We are a compassionate meritocracy of ideas.
  • Education: We constantly seek to learn, take feedback, and get better at our craft.
  • Discipline: We adhere to our process and strategy.
  • Authenticity: We are not afraid to be us – different and extraordinary!
  • Respect: We show respect to all members of our ecosystem.
  • Seek Positive Associations: We seek to partner with people who are ethical, driven, curious, brave, and collaborative.
  • Symmetrical & Ethical Transactions: We value alignment and symmetry in our business dealings. We seek the win-win because we are in the business of building together.
  • Conviction: We put our money where our mouth is. When our clients win, we win. When they lose, we feel the pain too.
  • Collaboration: We are partners in problem-solving among our internal team and portfolio company teams.
  • Measured Courage: We take measured, probabilistic risk in ways that many others fear, especially when a massive upside is likely, and we can minimize potential downside outcomes.
  • Grit: We get up when we get knocked down, and we help our founder partners and portfolio company leadership teams do the same.
  • Great Partnership: We are committed to beneficial partnerships that demand mutual appreciation, honesty even in the face of challenges and setbacks, and respect for multiple points of view.
